APPLICATIONS OPEN FOR STUDYING OPPORTUNITIES

September 2024.

Last week, students from Boshof and Hertzogville in the Free State gathered to mark the launch of the Globeleq Scholarship Fund (GSF) 2025 academic year intake, marking the fifth year these communities have benefited from the programme, which promotes equal access to education. During the event, students received assistance with their applications, continuing the Fund’s mission to support talented Black youth.

“In 2021, Boshof Solar Power’s community bursary scheme, under the Globeleq Scholarship Fund, awarded its first study bursaries, marking a significant milestone for the beneficiaries. This year, the first two recipients have graduated, and our commitment to expanding opportunities remains strong, reaching more students in these communities who need financial support to pursue their educational goals,” says Hlengiwe Radebe, Economic Development Director at Globeleq South Africa Management Services and Boshof Solar Power.

The scholarship adopts a holistic approach to funding, considering not just academic performance but also financial need, location, and gender, with a specific focus on diversifying the engineering sector and uplifting women in STEM fields. Students from the beneficiary communities can apply under one of two categories: the GSF Engineering Sciences bursary, open to students nationwide pursuing an engineering-related qualification full-time in 2025, and the GSF Communities bursary, supporting students living within a 50 km radius of the solar farm.

“The GSF addresses the increasing demand for education by filling gaps that state funding may not fully cover. It also encourages other sectors to contribute meaningfully to South Africa’s development,” concludes Radebe.

Note: The application deadline is 31 October 2024. Interested candidates can apply online at www.globeleq.auraams.app or contact support@auraAMS.app for further details.
